A Brooksville man faces a charge of DUI manslaughter in a crash Sunday night that killed a 53-year-old Brooksville woman on Sunday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 51-year-old Rodger J. Carr was speeding in a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro eastbound on Centralia Road, west of Sunshine Grove Road, in Brooksville around 7 p.m. when Sandra Sevilla stopped at the intersection and then turned in front of him while driving a 2009 Honda Fit.
After the crash, Sevilla was transported to Oak Hill Hospital, where she died from her injuries, FHP said.
Carr suffered minor injuries, and a passenger in Sevilla’s car was not injured, FHP said.
Investigators determined alcohol was a factor in the crash, FHP said.
Carr is being held at the Hernando County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, jail records show.
