INDIANAPOLIS, IN : 1 person killed in north side crash involving INDOT truck on Thursday, 10th January 2019
A 19-year-old man died Thursday following a crash on the city's north side, according to the Indiana State Police.
ISP says that just after 2 a.m. they were called to the area of Michigan Road, just south of 96th Street for a serious crash.
After arriving on scene, police discovered the crash involved a passenger vehicle and an Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) truck.
An early investigation indicates that the INDOT truck driven by Uriel Valez, of Greenfield, was stopped in the left turn lane on northbound Michigan Road. The truck was preparing to turn onto I-465 westbound. It was at this time that, according to police, a northbound Toyota vehicle driven by 19-year-old Christian Brocious, of Zionsville, traveled into the turn lane and rear-ended the truck.
Responding emergency medical personnel arrived on scene to find the male driver of the passenger car unconscious. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Valez was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
The deadly crash remains under investigation.
