Wadena, MN : A 16-year-old sophomore at Henning High School died on April, Thursday 13th 2017
Jacob Quam, a 16-year-old sophomore at Henning High School, died Thursday morning when the 2005 Chevrolet Impala he was driving collided with a 2012 Freightliner semi near Vining in Otter Tail County.
The Minnesota State Patrol did not publicly identify the victim Thursday. He was identified by classmates in Henning.
The accident occurred at 6 a.m. near 496th Street east of Vining on State Highway 210. While road conditions were dry at the time of the accident, a dense fog limited visibility.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 34-year-old Jason Rudolf Vadner of Wheaton, was traveling westbound on 210, when he crossed the centerline with his semi-truck and trailer. The crash remained under investigation Thursday.
Vadner received non-life threatening injuries.
Classes in Henning were canceled Thursday and counselors were brought in from other school districts.
Other agencies on the scene were the Otter Tail County Sheriff's office, Vining Rescue, the Henning Fire Department, the Henning Ambulance and Ringdahl Ambulance of Fergus Falls.
Vining is 26 miles southwest of Wadena. Henning is six miles northeast of Vining.
