Overton, NE : Two people hospitalized in wreck near Overton on Saturday, April 9, 2016

Two people were hospitalized Saturday following a collision near Overton on Saturday.

According to Tim White with the Overton Volunteer Fire Department, units were called at 4:52 p.m. to the intersection of roads 443 and 753 on the report of an injury accident.

A northbound black pickup struck a westbound white pickup in the driver’s side door, causing major damage to both vehicles. The driver of the black pickup, Alexa Wysocki of Elba, was transported to Lexington Regional Health Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the white pickup, Gary Prokop Jr. of Overton, had to be extricated, first by the jaws of life and then by a ram to lift the dash of the vehicle off of him.

He was transported to Kearney with serious injuries to his leg. The Dawson County Sheriff's Office identified the drivers of the vehicles.
