Enid, OK : Ponca City man hurt in accident near Newkirk on Tuesday, March 7, 2017

A Ponca City man was injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle accident near Newkirk.

Milburn Mehojah, 51, was admitted in stable condition to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan., according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. He suffered trunk, arm and leg injuries.

The accident happened at 3:17 p.m. on U.S. 77 about 2 miles south of Newkirk.

According to the report, Eugene Burnham, 71, of Pond Creek, was driving a 2015 Mack tractor-trailer north in the outside lane of U.S. 77 when he changed to the inside lane and turned east onto Brake Road. Mehojah, driving a 1997 Ford truck, hit Burnham's trailer on the right side. Burnham continued eastbound on Brake Road, dragging Mehojah's truck for about 200 feet.

Burnham was taken to Wesley Medical Center, but he was not injured, according to the report.

The condition of both drivers was listed as "apparently normal," according to the report, and the cause of the accident was listed as "improper right turn" by Burnham. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
