A 37-year-old Palatka man was killed in a crash Friday morning on U.S. 17 in Putnam County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the FHP report, Bobby Ray Kendrick was driving south around 7 a.m. on U.S. 17 in the outside lane near South Road and, for unknown reasons, left the roadway and drove into the inside median. Kendrick's truck went airborne across the median and flipped multiple times across U.S. 17 northbound. Kendrick, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and landed in the median, the FHP said.
The windshield of a school bus carrying students that was traveling north on U.S. 17 was hit by debris from the crash as the crash occurred, the FHP report said.
No one in the bus was injured.
