Woodburn, OR : Man died in crash closes southbound I-5 near Woodburn on Saturday, December 17, 2016
The Oregon State Police and the Woodburn Police Department responded to the scene of a deadly crash on Interstate 5 near Woodburn midday Saturday.
According to troopers, the crash involved a semi-truck and an SUV and happened near milepost 271 around 11:40 a.m.
When Woodburn police arrived at the scene, they found the man driving the SUV had died and that a woman in the SUV was also seriously injured and had to be extracted from the vehicle by crews from the Woodburn Fire Department.
Two other passengers in the SUV were treated at the scene of the crash but refused medical transportation to the hospital. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the incident.
Officer said that multiple people at the scene stopped to give aid to the victims of the crash, including off-duty Camas-Washougal Fire Department Captain Michael Brown and Dr. Matthew Barrett from Providence Medical Center.
Investigators had all lanes of southbound traffic shut down with traffic diverted to the shoulder as the crash team was gathering evidence and reviewing the scene.
