Greensboro, NC : Woman struck and killed by a hit and run driver on Monday afternoon, Nov 30, 2015

The North Carolina Highway Patrol has released the name of a Greensboro woman who was struck and killed by a hit and run driver earlier this week.

Master Trooper Chris Knox told local media that 67-year-old Brenda Alessi Brooks died after a vehicle hit her late Monday afternoon after she checked her mailbox.

Knox says troopers are looking for a damaged white Ford F-250 pickup.

Witnesses said Brooks' car was in her driveway with the motor running and the driver-side door open.

Knox said troopers checked and found Brooks' body in the ditch near the car.

He says investigators determined Brooks had stopped in her driveway, walked across the road to the mailbox and was hit as she was talking back to her vehicle.

An autopsy is planned.
