Springfield Twp, OH : One person died and another injured when SUV went off Ronald Reagan Highway early Monday morning, June 22, 2015

A fatal crash on eastbound Ronald Reagan Highway occurred early Monday and portions of the road near Caldwell Avenue remained closed for almost eight hours.

An SUV crashed off a highway overpass and down onto Caldwell Avenue, Springfield Township police told The Enquirer.

The SUV, which fell from the overpass, was the only car involved in the crash.

Police did not confirm how many passengers were traveling in the car, and the fatally injured victim has not been identified.

The crash was reported to Springfield Township authorities at 1:39 a.m., emergency dispatchers said.

Lanes restrictions were imposed in the area of the crash until about 9:15 a.m. The roadway was closed earlier Monday but was partially reopened in both directions before 5 a.m.

The cause of the crash has not been determined.
