VELVA, ND : 24-year-old killed in crash at an intersection about 4 miles south of Velv on Sunday, 16th December 2018
A 24-year-old California man is dead after failing to stop at an intersection about 4 miles south of Velva. The crash occurred at 10:12 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, during clear weather conditions.He was traveling east on Highway 23 in a 2007 Dodge Dakota when he failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 41.He then drove onto a minimum maintenance road and went off the right shoulder of the roadway, crossed through a fence and entered a cattle pasture.
The vehicle overturned several times and then landed on its wheels facing south. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to the release.
The driver's name will be released on Monday, Dec. 17. The crash is still under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
