Hatfield, MA : Woman was injured in a three-car crash at Elm Street into the C&S plaza On Tuesday, May 17th, 2016
A three-car crash shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday sent one woman to the hospital.
An ambulance transported Joan Beattie, 74, of Hatfield from the scene to Cooley Dickinson Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
According to police, the accident occurred when the first car — driven by Reynaldo Figueroa, 39, of Holyoke — stopped to turn left from Elm Street into the C&S plaza, in the area of Elm Court.
Beattie was driving behind Figueroa, and stopped to allow him to turn, police said. That was when a third car rear-ended hers, causing her to hit Figueroa’s back end, according to police.
Amedeo Botta, 29, of Holyoke was operating the third vehicle that made initial contact, according to police, and sustained minor injuries in the crash but refused medical transport. Police issued Botta a warning for following too close.
Figueroa was uninjured and drove away from the scene, police said, whereas the other two vehicles were towed by Florence Towing.
