A SUNY Cobleskill student was killed and several other students injured in a crash on I-88 early Saturday morning, according to the college.
An announcement on the school's website said Douglas Alvarez, a first-year business administration student died as a results of the crash injuries.
All other students involved were either being treated at area hospitals or were released, the advisory said.
Support and counseling was made available Saturday afternoon and another session was being planned for 7 p.m. Sunday at Davis Hall.
The Daily Star of Oneonta reports that Alvarez was from Westchester County, the crash happened at 4 a.m. in the Otsego County town of Maryland and he was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center Hospital. The newspaper said five other students were involved.
