A Berkeley County woman was killed in a single-car crash early Wednesday, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Curtis Keller said that at about 1:56 a.m., deputies found a blue Taurus over an embankment on Short Road with heavy front end damage and 46-year-old Heather E. LePage inside. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown into the passenger seat. She was deceased when deputies arrived.
According to the preliminary report, LePage, of Kearneysville, appeared to be heading south on Van Metre Road and lost control of her car. She ran off the road up onto an embankment, continued heading south, crossed Short Road and struck an embankment head on. According to police, speed and possibly alcohol are suspected of playing roles in the crash.
