Holmes County, OH : Holmes County man dies in Friday morning crash on Friday, 14th October 2016

A Holmes County man died early Friday morning when his horse-drawn vehicle was struck from behind by a pickup truck along County Road 160.
Roy A. Mast, 33, of 3552 County Road 160, Millersburg, was pronounced dead by Holmes County Coroner Dr. Robert Anthony at the scene of the crash, according to Chief Deputy Richard Haun of the Holmes County Sheriff's Office.
Mast was eastbound on County Road 160, between Township Road 664 and 668, shortly before 5:43 a.m., when his open-top horse-drawn buggy was struck from behind by an eastbound 2001 Chevy S-10 pickup truck, driven by Maynard M. Yoder.
The collision caused the cart and buggy off the south side of the road and into the ditch. Mast was ejected, and the horse also died as a consequence of the crash, according to Haun.
Yoder, 18, of 12511 Cunningham Road, Apple Creek, was not injured. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Assisting deputies at the scene were personnel from the Paint Township Volunteer Fire Department.
