Pittsburgh, PA : Motorcycle driver airlifted from Rostraver Twp. accident scene on Friday, September 15th 2017
A motorcyclist was flown to an area trauma center for treatment after being thrown over an embankment in a crash Friday night in Rostraver Township.
A Westmoreland County Emergency Management dispatcher confirmed that the cyclist was airlifted from the Rostraver Airport, after being transported by ambulance from the crash scene on Route 51 near McKenery Drive.
WPXI-TV reported the crash occurred just after 9 p.m. and involved multiple vehicles. The motorcyclist was rescued from the bottom of a 75-foot embankment.
The southbound lane of Route 51 was closed as emergency crews and Rostraver police responded.
At about 11 p.m., police issued a bulletin searching for a white Ford Focus with front end damage involved in a hit-and-run accident in the same area. The car reportedly fled west on McKenery.
