Springfield Township, OH : Child not properly secured in booster seat killed in crash on Tuesday night, December 16, 2014
A 6-year-old died from injuries in a car crash Tuesday night and the driver carrying the child could face charges, police said Wednesday.
Shalita Chess, 26, caused the fatal crash when she failed to yield the right of way entering Winton Road from North Hill Lane about 9:47 p.m., police say. Chess' Grand Prix collided with a Chevy Blazer driven by Scott Barnes, 19. Barnes was traveling south on Winton.
Chess was driving without a license, and the two children in her car, ages 6 and 7, were not secured with federally approved booster seats. The 7-year-old was treated at Children’s Hospital for minor injuries.
Barnes reported possible injuries but was not taken to the hospital by EMS.
