South Portland, ME : City woman died in a motorcycle crash in Westbrook on Saturday, July 25, 2015
Police say a Maine woman who was killed in a motorcycle crash last week in Westbrook was not wearing a helmet.
Authorities say 35-year-old Jennifer Lavigne of South Portland was riding on a motorcycle driven a 37-year-old Old Orchard Beach man on Saturday when he lost control. Both riders were ejected from the motorcycle.
Lavigne died at Maine Medical Center shortly after the accident.
Capt. Sean Lally tells The Sun Journal investigators believe speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.
Lally says the driver, who was also without a helmet, was still in the hospital on Wednesday.
Westbrook and Windham authorities are carrying out a reconstruction of the accident and a vehicle autopsy. Lally says the results will likely not be available for several weeks.
