LOUISVILLE, KY : 1 killed, 1 seriously injured in fiery crash on Southern Parkway near Churchill Downs on Sunday, 8th September 2024

A man is dead and another is fighting for his life after a crash on Southern Parkway.

Louisville Metro police officers were called on Sunday just before midnight to a fiery crash near Churchill Downs. A pickup truck was reportedly traveling along Southern Parkway when the driver lost control and hit a tree.

Louisville firefighters put out the flames and the driver was rescued from the pickup truck. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries.

The man in the passenger seat died at the scene. His name isn’t known at this time.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is currently investigating this crash.
