Iowa City, IA : 12-year-old boy injured when truck hit ATV near Lone Tree on Thursday afternoon, February 23, 2017

A 12-year-old Lone Tree boy was taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after a truck collided with the ATV he was driving.

The crash happened south of Lone Tree on the 6600 block of Wapsi Avenue Southeast at about 3:20 p.m., according to an Iowa State Patrol Crash report.

The boy, identified as 12-year-old Ronan Moffit of Lone Tree, was crossing Wapsi Avenue from west to east on his ATV when he was struck by a 2006 Kenworth semi truck traveling northbound on Wapsi, the report said. The truck was being driven by Kurt J. Stewart, 55, of Ainsworth.

Moffit was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics via AirCare helicopter. The report did not provide an update on his condition.
