PEORIA, IL : Missouri woman dies in Woodford County motorcycle crash on Sunday, 2nd September 2018

A Missouri woman died Sunday afternoon after a motorcycle accident in Woodford County, the Peoria County coroner said Monday.

Melanie Coy, 62, of Jackson, Mo., died in the trauma room at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center at 5:30 p.m., a bit more than an hour after the motorcycle she was riding crashed near the intersection of North Nancy Street and 10-Mile Creek Road, said Coroner Jamie Harwood.

The coroner said members of the Woodford County Sheriff’s Department and other first responders were called to that intersection at about 4:15 p.m. for a single-vehicle motorcycle accident. At the time, Coy and the male driver of the motorcycle were both conscious when transported to the hospital. The driver went to a different hospital than Coy, Harwood said.
