The man injured in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon is in the intensive care unit at an area hospital.
Daniel D. Bowlin, 29, of Hillsborough, is being treated at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for injuries sustained when he crashed a motorcycle into a yard at the intersection of Island Ford and Stamey Farm roads.
Sgt. Brian Owenby of the N.C. Highway Patrol said Trooper J.N. Chapman tried to stop the motorcycle after getting reports of a sport-style bike being operated at a high rate of speed and in a careless manner.
The bike was -- at times -- traveling in excess of 128 mph on Interstate 40, heading west, troopers said.
The bike exited at Stamey Farm Road and crashed into a yard as it reached the intersection with Island Ford Road, Owenby said. Bowlin was thrown from the bike and landed in a driveway.
