Elba, AL : 18-year-old Alabama women dead after car crashed into tree in Coffee County Sunday morning on July 6, 2014

Authorities say a teenager was killed after the car she was driving left the road and crashed into a tree.

Trooper Kevin Cook of the Alabama Highway Patrol said the single-car crash Sunday killed 18-year-old Madison Lee Jerkins of Samson. Cook said she was not wearing a seatbelt inside the 2001 Honda Accord when it crashed.

The wreck happened Sunday morning at about 5 a.m. on Coffee County Road 625. Few other details were released.

The Alabama Highway Patrol says it is still investigating the crash.
