Buffalo,NY : Pickup driver gets prison for drunken crash that critically injured teen on June, tuesday 13th 2017

Jerry John, who crashed a pickup truck carrying nine people last summer, critically injuring two of his passengers, was sentenced to two to six years in prison Tuesday. John, 19, of Perrysburg, who was also seriously injured in the crash, had pleaded guilty to vehicular assault in the first degree.

He reportedly was driving friends from a party and had a blood alcohol level of 0.101 percent when the truck crashed at 7:46 a.m. July 17. The vehicle went off Versailles Plank Road in Brant and struck a tree, throwing some of the passengers from the bed of the truck.

One teenage passenger, Aaron Henhawk, suffered traumatic head injuries.

Justice Christopher J. Burns mentioned the severity of the passengers’ injuries as he outlined why he felt prison time was merited.
