Selma, OR : Cave Junction man dies in crash near southern Oregon on early Sunday morning August 24th 2014
A rollover crash along Deer Creek Road near Selma killed a Cave Junction man early Sunday.
According to the Oregon State Police, a 1999 Ford F250 pickup truck with five occupants was traveling west in the 6000 block of Deer Creek Road about 3 a.m. when it failed to negotiate at sharp left-hand turn. OSP said the man believed to be the driver, Lex Alan Johnson, 26, apparently lost control and the pickup left the road, rolled and came to a rest on its top.
Emergency workers found Johnson under the crashed truck and pronounced him dead at the scene. He had not been using safety restraints.
Also injured in the crash was Lucas Harris, 21, who had been in the back of the pickup. He was picked up by a private party and taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass with non-life-threatening indues. Three others in the truck were reportedly not injured.
OSP is continuing to investigation, with Trooper Cory Sweet in charge. The Illinois Valley Fire District assisted at the scene.
