OAKLAND, CA : Man killed in Oakland traffic collision identified on Wednesday, December, 6th 2017
A man killed Wednesday night when he was hit by a car in Chinatown and knocked more than 100 feet was identified by the coroner’s office Friday as Grant Anthony Webb Jr., 32, of Oakland.
Police said the driver who hit him, a 29-year-old Hayward man, remained at the scene and was released after questioning pending further investigation.
Police said Webb was about to get on his bicycle about 10:53 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Seventh and Harrison streets when he was hit by a Dodge Charger going northbound on Harrison after coming out of the Posey Tube. Witnesses told police the car was speeding.
The impact knocked Webb 160 feet and he ended up at the intersection of Eighth and Harrison streets. He died at the scene.
Police are still asking anyone who may have seen what happened to contract traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
