Sunnyside,WA : Two women killed in crash on November, Sunday 5th 2017

Two Pasco women were killed early Sunday morning in a crash a mile west of the city.

#According to the Washington State Patrol, Mariah M. Loera, 20, and passenger Flora E. Leal, 22, were both pronounced dead at the scene at about 5:21 a.m.

#The women were eastbound on Interstate 82 when Loera’s 1997 Nissan Pathfinder went into the media, the patrol said. The driver over corrected and the car overturned, coming to rest on its roof blocking the right lane.

#The passenger was partially ejected, the patrol said, noting she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, as was the driver.

#The SUV was subsequently struck by two oncoming cars.

#Daniel Lopez, 47, of Prosser, was driving the first vehicle, a 1998 Honda Accord, the patrol said.

#Christopher A. Fleming, 45, of Grandview, was driving the second, a 2001 Nissan Sentra, the patrol said.

#Lopez’s vehicle struck the car and came to rest on the eastbound shoulder, the patrol said. The driver left his car to check on the victims in the upside down vehicle.

#Meanwhile, Fleming’s car also struck the vehicle and then hit the rear of Lopez’s car, the patrol said.

#Lopez was not injured in the crash, the patrol said, noting neither was Fleming.

#But Fleming’s passenger, Carigan A. Soria, 21, of Grandview, suffered undisclosed injuries and was later transported to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, the patrol said.

#The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

#In an unrelated incident about 12 hours later, two women, a man and four children were hurt in a crash at 3881 Progressive Road, Wapato.

#The state patrol said Andraya X. Trujillo, 26, was eastbound on Progressive Road when she collided head-on with Brigida A. Walker, 24, of Harrah, in the intersection of Lateral A Road.

#Walker was westbound, the patrol said.

#Trujillo was taken to Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital in Yakima, the patrol said. Walker was airlifted to the same hospital.

#Their passengers — girls ages 4, 6 and 2; a boy age 7; and Israel Gonzalez, 26 — were also transported.

#All of the crash victims were wearing seatbelts, the patrol said, noting it has yet to determine if alcohol or drugs were factors.

#The crash remains under investigation. Charges may be pending, the patrol said.
