Laconia, N.H : Charges upgraded against driver in deadly Laconia crash on Sunday, November 9, 2014
A driver now faces new charges in a crash that killed his passenger in Laconia over the weekend.
Ryan Mears, 26, who had been hospitalized with serious injuries, was first charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated.
Police said the car was travelling north on Parade Road early Sunday when it crossed the southbound lane and hit a tree, catapulting the car back onto the road.
A passenger in the rear seat, 28-year-old Tiffany Nieves, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the front seat, 28-year-old Jeremy King of Atkinson, was hospitalized in serious condition.
Mears was released from the hospital on Tuesday and arrested on additional charges of negligent homicide and second-degree assault.
