Mojave,CA : Two killed in Highway 14 crash on July, Saturday 15th 2017

Two people died over the weekend in a crash on Highway 14 in the Mojave area, the California Highway Patrol said.

A 32-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, both from Colorado, were passing another vehicle as they headed south on the highway Saturday when they collided head-on with a box truck traveling in the opposite direction. The car the two were in sustained "catastrophic damage," according to the CHP.

The driver of the box truck suffered minor injuries, the CHP said.

According to the CHP, the man was driving the car and entered the northbound lane to pass a van south of Horse Canyon Road. The driver of the box truck saw the car in his lane and tried to slow down but was unable to avoid the crash, the CHP said.
