Memphis, TN : Woman in critical condition after hit by a car in South Memphis on Tuesday night, March 22, 2016

A woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a car Tuesday night.

Just before 9:45 p.m., police rushed to the scene near the intersection of Florida Street and Happiland Alley, near McLemore Avenue in South Memphis.

Police said the car responsible was behind an uninvolved vehicle, then changed lanes, driving into the opposite direction of traffic to pass the vehicle.

The car then hit the woman crossing Florida Street, and she was thrown 75 feet down the road.

The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

It is unclear at this time whether the driver will face any charges.
