Harris County, TX : 2 adults killed, 4 children injured in head-on collision on FM 529 on Sunday, June 19, 2016

Investigators suspect alcohol may have contributed to a crash that killed a husband and wife and injured four young children in Katy.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the driver in a tan pickup truck hit a red pickup truck on FM 529 near Peek Road at about 7 p.m. Sunday.

“There was a pickup truck headed eastbound on FM 529 that went left of center, collided with the pickup truck that was going westbound and spun the truck around. That truck went into the ditch killing the two parties in front, the adults in the vehicle,” said Sgt. Mike Harvey with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The woman and man riding in the front seat of the red pickup truck died. A young boy and girl in child safety seats were in the backseat. Paramedics flew them to Memorial Herman Hospital in The Medical Center in critical condition. Deputies expected them to recover.

“This is obviously tougher than most. It's Father's Day and Father's Day is suppose to be a celebration and this one has turned into a tragedy,” said Sgt. Harvey.

A male driver and two young children were inside the tan pickup truck. Their mother took them to Texas Children's Hospital in Katy with minor injuries.

Deputies believe the driver of the tan pickup truck had been drinking. He could face two counts of felony murder and one count of intoxicated assault.
