RICHLAND COUNTY, SC : Officers search for driver, vehicle in hit-and-run that killed woman on Friday, March 3rd 2017

Officers with the Columbia Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run that claimed the life of one woman Friday night.

The Richland County Coroner identified the victim as 67-year-old Alicesene Dear Gilmore of Hopkins. The coroner said Gilmore died from blunt force trauma to the upper body.

Investigators say Gilmore was walking with two relatives from the Trenton Court Apartments to a local store when she was hit by a car. After hitting Gilmore, the car left the scene. Gilmore was transported to a local hospital where she died.

Witnesses said they believe the car was white. Surveillance captured blurry images of what investigators believe to be the car involved in the incident.
