RAPID CITY, SD : 71-year-old woman dies in crash on I-90 near Rapid City on July, Wednesday 5th 2017

Authorities say one person is dead after a two-vehicle crash 4 miles west of Rapid City.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a 71-year-old woman was killed when she tried to pass a semi-trailer on Interstate 90 Wednesday morning and struck the corner of the semi as she moved back into the driving lane. Her vehicle went into the ditch and rolled.

The woman was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The driver of the semi, a 26-year-old man, was not injured.
