Columbus, OH : Bicyclist in critical condition after crash in Short North on Thursday morning, September 25, 2014
A bicyclist struck this morning in the Short North has been hospitalized in critical condition.
Columbus police said Sherman Gaskin, 53, of Thurman Avenue on the South Side was riding a bicycle east on W. 5th Avenue when he collided at 7:35 a.m. with an eastbound car about 300 feet west of N. High Street.
The car was driven by Mary Kennedy, 25, of Neil Avenue. She was not injured and remained at the scene after the collision.
Gaskin was taken to Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, where he is being treated for head injuries that police said appear to be life-threatening.
No one has been cited in the crash, which is being handled by the Accident Investigation Unit.
