Lewiston,ME : Wilton woman walks away from crash on river on February, Saturday 10th 2018
A Wilton woman walked away from a crash Saturday night, after the SUV she was driving landed on a shelf of ice on the Androscoggin River.
Elizabeth Neuschwanger, 46, was northbound on Route 4 and failed to negotiate a corner before the bridge over the river near Goding Road.
The SUV hit a snowbank, went off the road, hit another snowbank and went airborne over the guardrail, State Police Trooper Marcus Reny said Monday.
The vehicle went down the embankment, struck a guy wire and hit a tree before landing on the ice, he said. The guy wire was snapped and power was knocked out to Livermore Falls and southern Jay at about 8:16 p.m.
