A car crashed into a game store on Southeast Foster Road on Thursday, causing significant damage but injured no one, according to an employee at the store.

The crashed happened at Red Castle Games at 6406 S.E. Foster Road just after 5:30 p.m., according to Natalie Caulkins, who works at the store.

She said the driver tried to walk away, but police were able to apprehend him around the corner at a Plaid Pantry after a short chase and struggle.

Oregon State Police said the incident started when an OSP detective tried to stop the car on suspicion of drunk driving. The driver, later identified as 37-year-old Myles Jacob Nees, took off and eventually crashed into the game store building.

Nees faces charges of driving while suspended, reckless driving, reckless endangering (a) person, attempting to elude, criminal mischief, interfering with a peace officer and possession of marijuana.

Caulkins said the damage and debris extended halfway through the store. | Watch surveillance video

“I hear the screeching of the brakes, I turn, and there the car comes through and shatters and sends this brick everywhere,” said Caulkins, Red Castle Games project manager.

Caulkins was behind the counter when the car came crashing in. The impact pushed a table across the room.

Natalie says she felt the impact more than she heard it.
