Adams, MA : Pittsfield man dies after crashing car into tow truck on Howland Avenue in Adams Thursday morning, July 28, 2016

Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that happened in Adams, Massachusetts Thursday morning.

A 2001 Hyundai Sonata that was driven by 23-year-old Ethan Piaggi-Cornell of Pittsfield collided with the rear-end of a stopped flatbed tow truck on Howland Avenue in Adams at around 11:15 am.

Piaggi-Cornell was later pronounced dead at Berkshire Medical Center. The driver of the tow truck was not injured.

Piaggi-Cornell’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Holyoke where an autopsy will be conducted.

The investigation is being handled by members of the Adams Police Department, the Berkshire Detective Unit of the State Police assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and the Massachusetts State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.
