Ravenna,OH : Woman charged in Portage hit-skip crash on June, Friday 9th 2017

A Garrettsville woman has been charged with leaving the scene of a traffic crash Saturday that damaged a utility pole on S.R. 305 in Nelson.

The 27-year-old Clover Lane resident was issued a ticket Wednesday by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, charging her with failure to stop after an accident, a first-degree misdemeanor, and failure to control, a minor misdemeanor, according to the highway patrol's Ravenna post.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge through her attorney and was set to be arraigned this morning in Municipal Court in Ravenna.

Troopers found the woman's 2009 Mazda abandoned on S.R. 305 between S.R. 282 and Parkman Road in Nelson shortly after receiving a call regarding a one-car crash in the area between 8 and 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

The driver was gone when troopers arrived, and an investigation revealed the car likely crossed the center line, left the roadway and struck the utility pole.

The road remained closed until about 2 p.m. while troopers investigated and utility crews removed live electrical wires that fell as a result of the crash.
