Fort Myers, FL : Lehigh Acres man dies in crash at Perkins on Monday, February 6, 2017

A Lehigh Acres man died Monday when his car hit a vehicle in a restaurant parking lot.

Thomas Roberts, 56, was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty east on Lee Boulevard, west of Elva Avenue North, when he drifted across the westbound lanes.His vehicle jumped the sidewalk, sheared a utility pole in half and careened into the Perkins Restaurant parking lot, where he collided with a parked car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A child in Roberts' vehicle sustained minor injuries.
