Council Bluffs, IA : Avoca woman dies in I-80 crash on New Year's Eve on Tuesday, 1st January 2019

A woman died in a crash Monday night after her vehicle overturned in a field off Interstate 80 near Council Bluffs.

Melanie Thompson, 46, was traveling west on I-80 when, for an unknown reason, her vehicle left the roadway. The car went down an embankment and overturned, coming to a rest on its wheels in a field.

Authorities arrived to the scene at about 6:30 p.m.
