Former Auburn and current Carolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton will spend the night in the hospital after he was involved in a traffic accident in Charlotte.
Newton's flipped car could be seen on a bridge near the intersection of Church Street and I-277, not far from the Bank of America Stadium. The truck's roof was caved in.
He was taken away in an ambulance.
According to the Panthers, Newton suffered fractures in his lower back, but had no other internal injuries. He's in fair condition at Carolinas Medical Center, where he is expected to stay overnight for observation. His injuries will not require surgery.
It's unclear whether he will practice or play against the Buccaneers Sunday.
