Middlebury, IN : One injured after SUV hits pedestrian on C.R. 20, Elkhart County on Tuesday afternoon, May 24, 2016

A pedestrian was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after he was hit by an SUV on C.R. 20 just south of Middlebury.

The 23-year-old man was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital with a head injury, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, which is investigating the crash.

Police say the SUV was traveling west on C.R. 20 east of S.R. 13 at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday when it hit the man, who was walking south across C.R. 20.

The SUV driver, a 20-year-old Goshen woman, complained of leg pain, but the police report does not indicate she was taken to a hospital for treatment.

No citations related to the crash were reported as of 8 p.m. Tuesday.
