A Kissimmee man in a wheelchair who was struck by an SUV has died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said a 69-year-old man in a wheelchair crossed U.S. 192 near Oren Brown Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by an SUV traveling eastbound. The man was airlifted to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he died of his injuries. Officials said the man was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by the SUV and that the stretch of road he was crossing is unlit. The vehicle was driven by Ralph Ratledge, 73, of Maryville, Tenn., an FHP report said. The man’s death comes just one day after a 74-year-old St. Cloud man in a wheelchair died after being struck by a pickup truck. Troopers said Billy Thompson, 70, was backing out of a driveway when he ran over Anthony Gannarelli, 74, who was behind the vehicle. Gannarelli was rushed to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he later died. Both crashes remain under investigation, an FHP spokeswoman said. Source : Kissimmee man in wheelchair struck, killed
