A Phoenix freeway has reopened after being closed during much of the Friday commute because of a fatal accident.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says westbound Loop 202 reopened shortly after 7 a.m. The freeway was closed about five hours earlier after two vehicles collided near the junction with Interstate 10 in central Phoenix.
The state Department of Public Safety says a passenger in a small SUV was ejected and killed when the SUV overturned after colliding with a car that went through a construction zone at high speed.
DPS Capt. Damon Cecil says the SUV passenger wasn't wearing a seat belt.
Eastbound lanes were unaffected by the closure.

Authorities say one person was killed in a two-vehicle collision that closed a Phoenix freeway during the beginning of the Friday morning commute.
The crash closed westbound Loop 202 at 32nd Street. The state Department of Public Safety advised motorists to use State Route 143 to reach McDowell Road and return to Loop 202 at 24th Street, and the Department of Transportation said alternative routes include U.S. 60 and Interstate 10.
