Rochester, N.H : Teen faces DWI charge after crash in Rochester on Saturday night, November 1, 2014
Five teenagers were injured in a single-car crash in Rochester over the weekend, and the driver is facing a charge of aggravated DWI.
Police said a car was traveling on Flagg Road late Saturday night when it went off the road and hit a tree.
"All I heard was a real loud squeal and then a bang," said witness Beverly Cook, who lives near the site of the crash.
Cook said she and her husband were sleeping at time, and when they looked out their window, they saw a couple of the teenagers already out of the car.
"I was getting ready to call 911, and they said that the ambulance was on its way," Cook said. "I heard two groans, and then I didn't hear anything."
Police said Noah Campbell, 16, was driving the car. Emergency crews arrived at the scene quickly, police said.
"All five people in the vehicle were transported to area hospitals," said Capt. Gary Boudreau. "Two of them for serious conditions. They are not life-threatening at this point."
Rochester police said two of the five teenagers are still hospitalized.
"The driver has been charged with reckless operation and aggravated DWI," Boudreau said.
Administrators at Spaulding High School, where the car's driver is a student, said they have programs already in place to help educate students on the dangers of underage drinking.
