PROVIDENCE, RI : Mass. crash victim identified as Providence man on July, Saturday 15th 2017

A 24-year-old Providence man has been identified as the person who was fatally injured in a crash on Route 95 in Mansfield, Massachusetts, on July 15.

He was identified as Omar Barrientos, according to the Massachusetts State Police.

The crash took place around 5:25 a.m. near the rest area in Mansfield. Barrientos was the lone occupant of a 2015 Ford F250 pickup.

The pickup had burst into flames after it drove into the rear of a Kenworth tractor-trailer that was disabled in the breakdown lane with a flat tire, according to initial reports from state police.

The 56-year-old driver of the tractor trailer suffered minor injuries. The F250 pickup had been moving at a high rate of speed in the breakdown lane prior to the crash, the police said.
