Fredericksburg, VA : King George man dies in fatal vehicle crash on Monday September 5 2016
A King George man was one of seven people who died in crashes over the Labor Day weekend in Virginia.
Alexander W. Rawlins, 22, died after a crash Monday night on Round Hill Road in the county, according to the Virginia State Police.
The crash happened at 10 p.m. about a mile north of State Route 3 when a southbound 1999 Chevrolet pickup ran off the road and hit a utility pole, according to state police Sgt. Steve Vick. The driver, who was by himself, was ejected.
Rawlins died at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt. Trooper J.C. Julio investigated the crash.
The King George crash was the only local deadly road incident during the Labor Day weekend, according to the state police.
The total of seven fatal crashes is down from last Labor Day weekend, when 16 people died in crashes across Virginia. Of this year’s fatal crashes, two people who died were motorcyclists.
