DUNBARTON, NH : Homeless Concord woman accused of attacking officer after drunken crash on Wednesday, 14th September 2016
A homeless woman from Concord is facing charges after authorities said she drove drunk Wednesday night, crashed and attacked a police officer.Laura Fortin allegedly ran over a mailbox on Twist Hill Road before crashing into a driveway on Montalona Road. Officers said Fortin was intoxicated when they responded to the scene just after 5 p.m.
Police said Fortin lunged at an arresting officer, throwing her shoulder into his chest. She was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated, conduct after an accident and simple assault, among other charges.
Fortin was taken to the Merrimack County House of Corrections. She was arraigned Thursday in Concord District Court. She was ordered held on bail pending a trail management conference.
Police said Fortin had already been out on bail after an August arrest for the alleged possession of prescription pills.
The crash is under investigation.
