Sacramento, CA : Man hit by car on I-880 ramp badly injured on Wednesday, 26th October 2016
A 47-year-old Hayward man suffered major injuries Wednesday morning when he was hit by a car while walking across a freeway on-ramp, the California Highway Patrol said.
The CHP said the man was hit about 4:56 a.m. Wednesday by a 2016 Nissan driven by a 33-year-old San Francisco man.
The CHP said the pedestrian was apparently outside the crosswalk at the bottom of the on-ramp to northbound I-880 from Tennyson Road when he was hit by the Nissan that was going about 40 mph as it was turning onto the on-ramp from the westbound lanes of Tennyson.
The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Eden Hospital where his condition was not immediately available.
The Nissan driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, the CHP said. Neither the driver or his passenger, a 36-year-old Hayward woman, were injured.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Officer S. Fuller at the Hayward CHP office at 510-489-1500.
