Thomson, IL : Clinton man killed in Thomson crash on Wednesday, 9th November 2016

A Clinton, Iowa, man was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday in Thomson.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Department received a report at 5:21 a.m. Wednesday of a crash on Argo Fay Road about half a mile east of Illinois 84, according to a department news release.

An eastbound grain semitruck driven by Dustin Hook, 35, of Fulton, was struck in the rear by an eastbound vehicle driven by Jacob Goebel, 31, of Clinton, according to the release. Mr. Goebel was pronounced dead at the scene. No other passengers were in Mr. Goebel's vehicle, the release said.

Mr. Hook was stopped on Argo Fay Road, waiting for oncoming traffic to pass before turning left into a farm driveway, when the accident occurred, according to the release. The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting agencies included the Thomson Fire and Ambulance Department and Thomson Police Department.
