Police say a woman was struck by a car Sunday night in Southern Pines, and then she and the driver of that vehicle were hit by another vehicle.
The Southern Pines Police Department said 18-year-old Tarsheia Wallace was struck a vehicle driven by Robert Saunders, 40, around 7:40 p.m. on Morganton Road near its intersection with S. Henley Street.
When Saunders got out of his vehicle to help Wallace, police said they were then both struck by a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Kendall Fields.
Saunders and Wallace were transported to First Health Moore Regional Hospital, where Saunders died Monday as a result of his injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
